How scoring works
Each swing video is broken into frames and the batter is tracked with on-device AI pose estimation. Six mechanics are measured and weighted into one Barrel-Score out of 100. Beat your best, build a streak, and chase a perfect 100.
Analyze a swing
Best results: film from the side (open or closed side), full body in frame, good lighting, 0.5×–1× speed. 2–6 seconds is plenty. Keep the batter centered and the largest person in frame — if others (umpire, fielders) are in the shot, the app auto-picks whoever swings.

Beta & free use. Barrel-Score is currently in beta. Registration and use are free for now. We reserve the right to limit, suspend, or deny access for any user, and to introduce usage limits or a paid plan, at any time and without notice.
Provided “as is.” The app is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. Swing scores, phases (load/approach/contact/extension), and mechanics feedback are an experimental automated estimate from 2-D video — a coaching aid, not a precise biomechanical measurement or medical, training, or safety advice. Use your own judgment.
Your responsibilities. Keep your password safe; you’re responsible for activity under your account. Only analyze video you have the right to use, and don’t upload footage of other people without their (or a parent/guardian’s) permission. Don’t misuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt the service.
Minors. Players are often under 13. A parent, guardian, or coach should set up and supervise any account used for a minor. See the Privacy & data policy for how children’s data is handled.
Your data. Videos are processed on your device and are not uploaded. If you create an account, your players, scores, and history sync to our server (videos and replay clips stay on the device). Details are in the Privacy & data policy.
Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Barrel-Score and its creators are not liable for any injury, loss, or damages arising from use of the app or reliance on its scores or feedback.
Changes. We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the current version. Questions? Reach us through in-app feedback.
Privacy & data
Your videos never leave your device. Barrel-Score analyzes swings entirely in your browser — clips are decoded locally and are not uploaded to any server. Scores, history, and slow-mo replays are stored only on this device (in your browser's local storage).
The one thing that leaves your device: if you send feedback, we transmit only what you type — your rating and message, your email (optional, only if you add it so we can reply), the number of swings you've saved, your most recent score, and a short browser label (e.g. "Safari on iPhone"). Feedback is delivered by a third-party form service (FormSubmit). We never send your videos, names, or location.
Children's privacy (COPPA). Players are often under 13. Because everything stays on the device, Barrel-Score does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents/coaches: please don't include a child's personal details in feedback. If cloud features are ever added, they will require parental consent first.
Optional accounts & sync. If you create an account (Settings → Account), your players, scores, and history sync across your devices via our own server — your videos and slow-mo replay clips still never leave the device. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Accounts are entirely optional; skip them to stay fully on-device.
Your control. Use Export backup to keep a copy of your data, and Clear all history (in Progress) to erase it. Uninstalling or clearing your browser data also removes everything on the device; deleting your account removes synced data from the server.

The perfect angle
Film from the side so the camera looks straight down the line of the swing. This is what the AI tracks best.
Shoot from the side — open or closed side, camera square to the swing (not from front or behind).
Full body in frame — head to feet with a little margin, bat included at the top of the swing.
Phone steady & level — held landscape at about waist/chest height, ~10–15 ft away.
Good light, clean background — bright, even light; fewer people behind the batter is better.
2–6 seconds, 0.5×–1× speed — slow-mo helps the tracker catch the fast part of the swing.
